It’s 2021, let’s get back to actual surfing. Surfers build community, good vibes, and most importantly... their own Surfboards!

Why I Hate Surfing...

Surfing started as a spiritual ritual of communing with nature, exercise, a method of self expression, brother and sisterhood, a loving tribe full of aloha…

Now, thanks to media, and crowds, surfing has become almost an overly aggressive, egotistic, selfish “sport”.

The magazines and videos are designed to make you believe riding the latest design trend of mass produced surfboards endorsed by some pro surfer, will actually get YOU to that same level of surfing...

Not to mention the fleecing you receive when paying high prices for disposable surfboards that start to deteriorate on the first session. Remember, you too can launch and stick rodeo flips like Jon Jon if you’re riding this year’s latest LostFireChannel model.

And that’s why ihatesurfing.com .

The Changing Vibe started Decades Ago and The Surf Industry Promoted it...

The surf industry has created a monster with the sole intention of making more sale.

They’ve promoted this obnoxious behavior both in and out of the water and all for financial gain.

The worst part is they do it under the guise of having “a surf culture vibe” while behind the curtain they are actually redefining surfing

and it’s once community feel...

It’s 2022, let’s get back to actual surfing!

Surfing builds community not a crowded surf spot with overly aggressive people.

As surfers we’re a different breed…

We pull together in time of need and are supposed to have each others backs in and out of the water.

We are supposed to encourage each other to go for it on a big wave and celebrate when we finally make one!

Remember we are a different breed!

We are the ones who will dig out our cars on the morning of a massive snow storm fight though the terrible driving conditions only to climb a mountain of snow piles and sand dunes just to see if the waves are decent.

Let’s get back to the basics of surfing and stop all the nonsense.

You don’t have to ride the “new” fad board, BUILD YOUR OWN!

Better yet,  build boards with your surf crew that’s what they used to do, right?!

Discover... just how easy and inexpensive a Building Surfboards Can Be...

What could be better than you and your friends going out and scoring a great session on boards you all made yourselves!

Don't Think You have What it Takes To Shape?

Not Sure Where to Start?...

We asked a Friend to Show You Just How Easy It Is... Meet Micayla!

Micayla wanted to shape her own Surfboard

Micayla's Dad is a surfer and started shaping his own boards a few months ago.  That's when Micayla said she wanted to make her own board.  The full size kit made her nervous (she is only 10) so her Dad order a FREE Mini Kit and just covered the shipping. The idea was to give Micayla some experience and have her make a scaled version of the surfboard she wants to make.

Micayla shaped up a couple practice boards (the kit comes with 3 mini surfboard blanks

She practiced her technique on the practice blanks. Then she was ready to dial in the final shape.

Time for the Color Work

With an intense color scheme she had to hit the craft store. Micayla wanted to get that look she has always wanted on her board... We think she did an Awesome Job!

Fiberglassing was "No Big Deal"

After Seeing her Dad fiberglass his first 2 surfboards she was ready to try it out for herself... and she did and amazing job for her first glass job

Here comes the Seal Coat

With both sides of the surfboard covered in fiberglass it was time to fill in the fiberglass weave with some more resin on the seal coat. She laid out one of the cleanest and best seal coats we have ever seen a first timer pull off

Last step was Fin Install on her Fish Shape

Opting for a nice keel set for her fish shape Micayla did some quick fin layout and finished up her board. The entire project lasted a weekend but her surfboard knowledge will last a lifetime!

Still Think You Don't Have What it Takes?

It's Time to Take Back Surfing and Return it to its' Glory!
